I recently tried to log into my Slack account from my phone. A notice popped up telling me I had to input an authentication code that was emailed to my Gmail account. I opened my email, got the code and opened the Slack account again. I got another notice telling me I had to input a code. I put in the new code. A new notice came up that said I had just put in an old code and I would need to check my Gmail inbox for the new code. I repeated the process and was then told that code was old and I needed to check my inbox for the new code. Then I found myself lost in a Twight Zone episode of a Technological Terror Catch-22. An authentication rabbit-hole if you will. Some version of reality that was much like the real world, but was eerily different where time and cause and effect seemed to be glitching. After much adventure and potion-drinking in this odd reflection of reality, I finally made it back to the real world. But I must admit, I do not know how I returned.
